Me playing violin at Ann Rosen's exhibition "Schhh..."

Me playing violin

I studied “classical” composition with Nigel Osborne at Nottingham University, and electroacoustic composition with Denis Smalley at University of East Anglia, and have practiced free improvisation since I was about 15 or 16 years old.  I am currently involved in several long-standing collaborations, including the duo project “Wormhole” with guitarist and circuit-bender John Ferguson, another duo project with Sten-Olof Hellstrom on live electronics, my solo The Resistant Violin project which I have been developing with the excellent assistance and support of STEIM, Amsterdam, and a large-scale cycle of composed works for solo instruments and live electronics with the working title of Great Parisian Modernists.  The first piece in the cycle is called L’oiseau chant avec ses doigts, and is composed for the Swedish guitar maestro Magnus Andersson, with a four-channel live electronics component, some of which is precomposed and some of which is controlled live by MAX/MSP.
